The idea for this application is to have an easy-to-use, intuitive monitoring tool that can fulfill the needs of a wide range of users - from parents monitoring their children's Internet activities to the average office manager who wants to keep track of their employee's activities.
Although the website cites uses for network experts and forensic workers, the truth is that these types of professionals require much more flexibility than provided by NetResident - they could use NetResident, but their job's demands are much higher. However, excluding these highly qualified professionals, NetResident does have plenty of power. You can monitor most important network events, such as IM messages, e-mails, and VoIP, among others, and the data collected can be stored for further analysis. The information is organized neatly in the interface, and any interactions available with your data are at the tip of your mouse pointer at all times.
It may not have all the power needed by experts, but average users will appreciate its ease of use.
